The Faculty offers three courses – the English Course and Chinese Course for Japanese students and the Japanese Course for international students.Students can enhance their proficiency in the language of their major through international interactions with their peers within the Faculty.
Our curriculum is based on global standards of foreign language learning. Our first-year programs prepare students for the required Study Abroad course undertaken in the second year. In the third and fourth years, the returning students build on their overseas experiences to develop a more sophisticated command of communicative skills.
During their first year and a half in the program, students take intensive language courses in order to prepare for the Chinese study abroad experience they will undertake in the fourth and fifth semesters. During this time abroad, and after they return to Japan, students acquire advanced knowledge of Chinese language and culture and gain the confidence necessary for a future using their Chinese skills at a professional level.
The Japanese course is intended primarily for students from abroad. This course is designed to improve these students’ communication skills and cultural understanding through interdisciplinary studies. The Seminar on Japanese Society and a program of cultural immersion will enable students to develop their research skills and, more importantly, deepen their comprehension of Japanese culture.
